Bethesda Press Conference: Wrap Up (E3 2016)

Bethesda

Many thought the only reason Bethesda held a conference at last years E3 was due to its big announcement Fallout 4. Well Bethesda is back this year and bigger than ever! The show acquired a hanger to announce its latest and greatest, along with test out Bethesda’s new VR titles (right!?) and a live concert from Blink 182…. Didn’t those guys break up?

tumblr_o8ouhxa9fE1tze2nao2_1280We saw a ton of love on the DOOM front with SnapMap to new DLC. We will even see DOOM in full VR! What is strange is that Fallout4 was announced exclusively on the HTC Vive, while DOOM was just announced for overall VR. I’m sure we’ll get down to that nitty-gritty later in the conference.
Bethesda also showed off loads of Dishonored 2 goodies. We saw a lot of level designs and two game play scenarios. The Elder Scrolls world is also rich with new content including a new HearthStone like digital card game, an expansion to the Elder Scrolls Online franchise and the long awaited Skyrim HD, which is headed to PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Although this one looks a bit different and is set in the distant future. The trailer really gets into the horror of Prey and really shows of its dark side. I am all for another science fiction thriller romp.

We also finally saw Quake get reborn once again with Quake Champions. iD Software was on hand to announce the new game while adding, “A competitive arena-style first-person shooter for the PC designed for players of all skill levels. Whether you are new to Quake or have been fragging for the last 20 years, Quake Champions will give you the challenge and rush you’d expect from iD Software multiplayer games. The game features a diverse cast of warriors each with different attributes and unique abilities, allowing you to fight the way you want,” Willits went on. “iD has a long tradition of supporting competitive tournaments. The game is designed for world-class eSports play at every level.”

If you’re not at E3 this weekend, you can get your hands on Quake Champions this August at QuakeCon.
