Resident Evil VII Collectors Edition

Capcom is expecting Resident Evil 7 to sell big in the first quarter of 2017. So big in fact that they have a good feeling it will surpass Resident Evil 5’s record breaking sales of 6.5 million units, which surpassed the 6.3 million units sold by 1992’s Street Fighter II.
Now we all know the main reason RE5 sold so well was because it was coming hot off the heels of Resident Evil 4, which was the first RE game to really change up the classic Resident Evil gameplay dynamic.

Either way, Resident Evil 7 looks to be doing the same. Especially with what we have seen from the Kitchen demo and other demos played on show floors this past year. Including this being the first Resident Evil game that you can play entirely in VR.

DragonCon 2016 (Convention Report)

hocuspocusAh, DragonCon. It is a mythical place of joy and wonder. It could be eight months away and friends on social media are still talking about working on costumes, booking hotels, getting panels together, etc. It is like a week long Halloween celebration of all fandoms and all walks of life. This is why DragonCon is probably the most fun convention you will ever attend.

It had been a while since I attended my last D*con (2012 to be exact). But I was a regular ever since 2005. Conventions are tricky that way. We’d love to attend them all, but life rears its ugly head from time to time. This year a friend of mine was going back for his second year. I had never been to the show with him and felt it was about that time to take the trip up from Orlando to make my triumphant return.

What’s a slasher game without 80’s influences? Any hardcore horror fan knows that the best decade for the slasher genre was the 80’s. Well apparently Interactive is on the gory crime scene!

Interactive today released the 2nd update for Dead by Daylight, titled “The 80’s Pack” on digital distribution platform Steam. Our five dear victi… friends, have decided that if they were to be savagely murdered, they might as well do it with style! Dress your favorite survivor with iconic pieces of fashion from the 80’s in this cosmetic pack.

“Our five dear victi… friends, have decided that if they were to be savagely murdered, they might as well do it with style!
The Silo is one of the oldest buildings that made up Coldwind farm. It stood for over fifty years before the great storm of 1984 brought the ancient structure crashing down. It was only several days later that local police discovered the twelve bodies buried in the ruins. The coach they had been traveling in was forced off the road by the storm. The passengers had taken refuge in the old building. It is only recently that a sealed suitcase full of clothes emerged from the ruins and was found by a group of happy few (…soon to be fewer). A welcome change as well as a tribute to the golden age of slashers.”

Blair Witch (Horror Review)

I was really looking forward to this one ever since its announcement took everyone by surprise at Comic Con. Especially when I found out Adam Winguard and Simon Barrett were behind the project. It felt like after Book of Shadows (the official sequel to The Blair Witch Project) released back in 2000 that that was the official nail in the coffin for the series for quite some time. Fifteen years later we were surprised with a true sequel. One that feels a lot like the first film. But in the end, is that truly what we are looking for in the third installment of this series?

THE BLAIR WITCH is HIDING IN ‘THE WOODS’ (Comic Con 2016)

ImageProxy
A select few members of the horror press community were invited out to a venue in California this weekend at Comic Con International to view the trailer for anew film called ‘The Woods.’
Well to all of our surprise, this little film ended up being a direct sequel to the original Blair Witch Project. Here is a synopsis of the film…

“A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence.  Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.”

Now I’m not sure if ‘Book of Shadows’ (the first sequel to the original film) is still canon or not, but I’ll be sure to update you all very soon. Check out the trailer below!
